Feedback

Layout’s developer reads everything you send. To share an idea, report a problem or ask something, send feedback from Layout itself, or write on Discord or by email.

Send feedback

Section titled “Send feedback”
  1. Choose Send Feedback…. It’s in three places:
    • the menu of the Layout icon in the menu bar;
    • Settings › About, with Send…;
    • the command palette.
  2. Pick Idea, Problem or Other.
  3. Write your message.
  4. Under Contact, leave an email address or your Discord name to get an answer. It’s optional.
  5. Click Send.

Layout says it’s sent once your message has reached the developer. If sending fails, for example without a connection, the window keeps your message: click Try Again, or email it to support@getlayout.app.

Report a problem

With Problem picked, the window offers Switch to Diagnostics. It opens Send Diagnostics with your message and contact already in it. A diagnostics report adds Layout’s state and recent events, which help find what went wrong. If Send Diagnostics is already open, it comes forward with what it holds, and Send Feedback stays open with your message. You can also send the problem as feedback, without a report.

Where it goes

Layout sends your message, the kind you picked, your contact if you left one, and the versions of Layout and macOS to getlayout.app. getlayout.app keeps no copy: it posts them to a private channel on Layout’s Discord server, where they stay until the developer deletes them. Only Layout’s developer reads them. Nothing else goes: no report, no configuration, nothing about your windows. See Privacy.
